Joint Workshop between GAPs and MORE about German Return and Deportation Regime at Göttingen University on February 22-23, 2024

Researchers of BICC‘s GAPs project and MORE project jointly organised a workshop entitled “Deutsche Rückkehrpolitik und deutsches Abschieberegime” at Göttingen University on February 22-23, 2024. As German cooperation partners, BICC and Göttingen University colleagues overviewed the German return and deportation policy together with researchers, practitioners and activists. They brought existing research into an interdisciplinary exchange, and discussed approaches and findings, as well as explored gaps for further research by referring both international, national and local context about migration control. From GAPs, Katja Mielke and Zeynep Sahin-Mencütek provided insights into the gaps in the German return regime based on their findings presented in the recent report entitled “Legal and Policy Infrastructures of Returns in Germany”.
