On December 10, 2024, Mateusz Krępa from the GAPs project team at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw, conducted an insightful two-hour workshop for approximately 20 students from Saska Szkoła Realna High School in Warsaw.

The workshop delved into key topics surrounding migration governance, with a focus on international protection and return processes. Through interactive discussions and exercises, students explored the complexities of migration decisions using case studies tailored to real-world scenarios. These case studies challenged the participants to consider factors influencing decisions on international protection and the applicability of return measures in diverse situations.

A significant part of the workshop drew on findings from Work Package 2 (WP2) of the Horizon Europe GAPs project, which examines return regulations. The discussion highlighted the prerequisites that exclude the possibility of returning individuals to their country of origin and alternative return arrangements, such as those under the Dublin procedure.

By bringing research insights into the classroom, the GAPs team aimed to equip young minds with a deeper understanding of migration policies and their impact on individuals and societies. This initiative reflects the project's commitment to fostering awareness and critical thinking about migration among younger generations.
